New York Labor Law 240 Attorneys
What is New York State Labor Law 240?
Labor Law 240 was drafted primarily to protect construction workers on ladders and scaffolds and in other conditions involving heights on construction sites. There is a lot going on with this law, but the most important factor is the duty of general contractors to make sure ladders, scaffolds, pulleys, and other gravity-related construction instruments are safe for workers.
Falls from ladders, scaffolding accidents, fall injuries, and other construction site injuries have been common for centuries. But in recent years, with the advent of New York's Labor Law 240, claims involving construction site accidents have become more complicated than ever. If you have been hurt in a construction site accident, make sure you work with a lawyer who has experience with this type of litigation and who has a thorough understanding of how Labor Law 240 litigation works.
At Restivo & Murphy LLP, we have more than 40 years of combined experience representing injured New York construction workers in catastrophic injury claims. Our lawyers travel to meet our clients throughout New York City's 5 boroughs as well as Long Island, Nassau County, and Suffolk County to ensure that they get the representation and service they deserve.
Have you suffered a catastrophic injury while working construction in New York? Call Restivo & Murphy LLP today at (800) 997-9109 or contact us online to meet with one of our skilled attorneys!
Who is Liable Under New York Labor Law 240?
This duty is absolute and nondelegable. If the general contractor or manager on site puts someone else in charge, the general contractor and property owner would be liable for any injuries.
At Restivo & Murphy LLP, we have handled many cases involving Labor Law 240. Our attorneys have worked on cases involving roof collapses, scaffold and ladder falls, and related accidents, and we have obtained substantial verdicts and settlements in litigation as well as in the appellate courts. Our law firm's approach is to take the time needed to obtain the maximum compensation available for each client's case.
